Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B to create a unique mix. She has appeared on stages all over the world, from Broadway through The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine, whose given name is Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta, she originates in Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing as well as playing the piano at the church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship in the Atlanta's R&B scene. The band was hired as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 about serving as the Choral Director for Dreamgirls, the theatre production in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine became famous during the four daily performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine went on to sing during the 2009 Obama Inauguration.
